Edessa is a New York based playwright and screenwriter. She was born in Sydney, Australia to Assyrian-Iraqi parents and later raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is a proud alum of the Obie-winning playwright collective Youngblood at Ensemble Studio Theatre.

Edessa's work has been produced at JACK NY, Ensemble Studio Theatre, as well as the Obie-winning theatre company, Noor Theatre. She was led into dramatic writing through her passion for filmmaking, which she studied in London, England, and later discovered her love of writing for the stage while pursuing her MFA in Dramatic Writing from NYU Tisch (’16) under Lisa Kron.
